I can’t compare The Last Word Long Beach to The Last Word Constantia at all. Both are elegant and luxurious, but both are completely different at the same time.
As you drive past idilic beaches, waves crashing and the smell of the ocean, you can feel you’re about to relax and almost go into a retreat. You can’t get closer to the beach than The Last Word Long Beach, in the surf town and fishing village of Kommetjie, where everyone is relaxed and happy go lucky.
As I walked into The Last Word, the two smiling faces of Joan and Cathy welcomed me with friendliness I have never experienced before. They’re infectious and if you weren’t ready to smile and relax, you will be now.
The lounge overlooks the ocean, surfers, people walking on the bed; the breakfast area overlooks the ocean, we even had a room where you could watch the waves crashing from the bed. Did I mention that you won’t get closer to the ocean than this?! At The Last Word here, you’ll just want to relax, sip on a glass of wine, and stare at the ocean all day. It’s so good for the soul, and the perfect relaxation you need. Also less than a minute away is a walk on the beach.
Much like the Constantia hotel, Long Beach comes with complimentary snacks and mini bar, WiFi, breakfast in the morning, and afternoon cake and tea. For dinner, this is Kommetjie, you can take a 5 minute walk to the hub of the village and have quite a selection of pubs and restaurants to choose from. We found a colorful little street with a deli, wine store, café, and pizzeria. Try the Kommetjie Pizzeria. Believe me when I say it is the best pizza you will ever get!
Leaving The Last Word Long Beach left a sense of relaxation and a feeling of being recharged. Spending the day overlooking the ocean and being so close to it, is exactly what any soul needs. You can also take advantage of the “on a whim” special at the Long Beach hotel all year round and get 50% off if you book for arrival within 7 days! Their current winter special of Stay Three Pay Two makes this a must where you can spend three nights and only pay for two.
Make sure you visit the website here and make your booking for a weekend in Kommetjie. You could get lucky with a summer’s day in the middle of winter like we did.
Once again a huge thank you to Kelsey, Jenny, Joan, Cathy, Desi, and Fanie for hosting us and giving us a weekend to remember at The Last Word.
